This prenatal assessment is a must for first time moms, moms who previously formula fed, moms who have had prior difficulty with breastfeeding, and moms who are concerned they may have difficulty with breastfeeding due to breast augmentation surgery or other reasons. During this visit, a thorough history is taken and a breast assessment is performed. This visit typically lasts 1 hour or less.
This visit allows us to assess your breastfeeding in your home, so we can better assess you and your new baby in your natural environment. We do a thorough history, we observe and assess a nursing session and we develop an individualized plan of care for you. At your request, we will draft a report to your OB (or other health care provider). This visit usually lasts about 1.5 – 2 hours.
This visit typically lasts 1 hour or less. During this visit, we reassess a breastfeeding session and make adjustments to the plan of care, if needed. We may also perform an infant weight check at this visit. If changes were made in your care plan, we will provide you with your updated individualized plan of care.
If done at your request, no breastfeeding assistance included.
This visit is for mothers who must return to work or school. We will discuss your breast pump, its use, and how to store your milk. We will also discuss how to ensure you are provided with a place to pump and store your milk.
